Transformers Alternity Convoy Red

This is my first Transformers figure. Back to those days in the 80's, I love Transformers animation but I never got a chance to own a figure. Now a grown up man in his 30 plus, I finally buy a Transformers toy for myself.

Here is Convoy, better known as Optimus Prime in the Transformers Alternity line. This is official product design and produce by Takara Tomy Japan.


What trigger my instinct and desire to own this figure is that it is a GTR R35 in alternate mode. I am a GTR fan! Here comparing the Nissan GTR and the recreation in 1:32 scale by Takara Tomy.




The figure represent the original car quite well. Only the gap line is the minus here. Another two more shot of the figure as below





Now on to the robot mode.






For the Transformers Generation 1 fans, this new design of Optimus Prime is unconventional. Some hardcore fans feel the new look does not represent Convoy well, but to me, the design team from Takara Tomy just give Convoy a new life.

Articulation wise, this figure is superb, but the back heavy issue due to die cast material can cause poseability issue.

A highly recommended figure, and you can get this piece now (Q2 2010) in the market around RM250. Compare to the early 2009 when I got it at RM170, is a "bull market" on this item.
